Being gentle goes a long way.

Caring for your lingerie correctly is very important. It’s not fun if you only get to use it once.  Handle everything with care and always follow the instructions on the label.

Here are a few tips we have for looking after your delicates:

  • Try airing the garment on a hanger after use.
  • Wipe any minor marks with a damp cloth.
  • Hand-wash gussets in cold water, using a mild lingerie detergent. Dry flat and do not tumble dry or iron.
  • Do not wring out lace, silk or lycra as this can cause creasing in the fabric which may be difficult to remove. Instead dry flat.
Here are a few tips we have for looking after your leather:
  • If leather comes into contact with water at any point, leave the garment to dry flat at room temperature.
  • Do not use a hair dryer or leave near a direct source of heat as this will dry out the leather and cause it to crack.
  • Blot marks or stains with a damp cloth but do not rub as this can cause damage to the leather.
  • Avoid leaving garments in direct sunlight.
  • Leather garments are best stored on a hanger to prevent creases and to ensure they maintain shape, i.e. leather cups can misshape when -  items are placed on top of bras.
  • If stored in a drawer you may want to place items in a breathable cotton sheet to keep them protected.
  • Do not store leather garments in a plastic bag or any other nonporous containers, as this will cause the leather to dry out.
  • For more information on how to care for leather items, we recommend that you seek advice from a specialist dry cleaner, as items damaged whilst cleaning cannot be returned, replaced or exchange by Porte-a-Vie.

Regular cleaning is key to maintaining the quality of your toys. Be sure to wash them before you use them for the first time, and immediately after each use. Air dry, and then pop it back into its hiding place for storage.

Always be careful to keep water and cleansers away from battery cartridges and electrical parts. Unwanted shocks are not what we’re after. Never boil sex toys with electrical components. The safest way to clean most of your toys is to use antibacterial cleanser. The pH-balanced formula is designed to keep your toy immaculate whilst being sensitive to your skin on its next use. Please remember that as sex toys touch very intimate areas of your body, it’s extremely important to know whether you have any allergies or sensitivities to certain cleansers or materials prior to use. We recommend LELO Antibacterial Toy Cleaner. If you’re not sure, we highly recommend that you do an allergy test on a small patch of skin, such as your wrist, before using any product.
