We loved the style of Mrs Shmith’s new slips the moment we saw them - the flattering wider strap and elegant longer length sets them apart from other slips in the market. Here, designer Sandra Shmith explains her design philosophy, and tips on how to wear them.

What is special about the cut?

They generously cut on the bias and are an elegant mid calf length. This uses more fabric but is ultimately more flattering for a woman’s body regardless whether she is shapely or lean, tall or petite.

All the slips have extra wide shoulder straps for 2 reasons. Firstly to cover bra straps... rarely a good look. Secondly, it’s more flattering to the underarm area - more elegant. It’s something that I’ve found is missing in the market place. Everyone does spaghetti straps!

What is your design philosophy?

I design for a sophisticated, discerning women who is confidant, in touch with and proud of her sexuality. The Mrs Shmith Wide Strap Silk Slip is feminine, sexy and comfortable.

How do you suggest wearing the slip?

With confidence!

The slip can be worn at home as loungewear with bare feet. It can be worn to bed, or it can be worn out to dinner with flats, trainers, heels or boots. Equally as comfortable as a stand alone piece or worn under a jacket, oversized coat or boxy shaped sweater/cardigan.

I wore mine on the weekend to The Byron Bay Blues Festival with Golden Goose high tops.

The Mrs Shmith woman doesn’t spend a lot of time thinking about what she’s going to wear. She doesn’t fuss, rather she has the confidence to throw something on and voila! Effortless glamour!
